Services

161 24/7 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION

The brigade operates the 161 communication Center. The Center receives and dispatches responders to calls for fire, rescue, or medical emergency assistance. This service is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Regular broadcasts of severe Weather Bulletins when a typhoon threatens Bacolod City or Negros Occidental also form part of the function of this emergency communication center.

FIRE PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION SERVICES

The brigade assists the Bureau of Fire Protection in suppressing destructive fires when they occur. The brigade has continually improved the skills of its volunteers and has invested heavily in fire suppression equipments. The brigade also conducts fire drills and fire safety seminars as part of its fire prevention activities.

RESCUE SERVICE

Part of the function of a fire brigade is Fire Rescue. However, the brigade expanded this service to include other fields of rescue that are non-life related. Today, expertise in this field includes water rescue, confined space rescue, vehicular extrication, high angle rescue, mountaineering, and SCUBA diving.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

This service started in 1995. Only a handful of cities in the Philippines provide this service to their populace.  Bacolod City is lucky to be one of these cities with a working Emergency Medical Service (EMS) which is predominantly handled by the Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Starting with just twelve trained volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and one Ambulance, this service has grown tremendously and is now manned by more that 30 volunteers EMTs using ambulances.

PUBLIC SAFETY EDUCATION

While the brigade continues to buildup its capabilities for fire suppression and rescues, the brigade also realizes that prevention is of prime importance. Thus significant time and efforts are invested in the Public Safety Education Program.

Lectures, seminars, drills and training and provided to school, neighborhood and civic organizations, and even commercial and individual organization. Topics includes fire safety, first-aid and basic life support, and rescue training.
